John Kerry: Boston Bombings ‘A Pretty Direct Confrontation With Evil’

Secretary of State John Kerry addressed the ongoing manhunt for the remaining Boston Marathon bombing suspect Friday morning, shortly after ending a video conference with President Barack Obama and more than a dozen cabinet members.

Speaking at the outset of a joint press conference with the Mexican secretary of foreign affairs, Kerry offered a brief statement on the recent developments.

“This entire week we’ve been in a pretty direct confrontation with evil,” Kerry said.

“In the past few days we’ve seen the best and we’ve seen the worst of human behavior, and it’s the best that all of us really want to focus on,” he continued, before thanking law enforcement and first responders.

Kerry declined to speculate on the motivation of the suspects, saying, “Like everyone, we are going to watch and wait,” and that he would “await law enforcement before commenting further.”
